Aine Divine

Aine Divine is a portrait artist and art teacher, she originally hails from Cork in Southern Ireland. She was shortlisted for the Irish National Portrait Award three years in a row and was an award winner in 1993. Aine's portraits were chosen for exhibition by the 'Society of miniature artists', at the Mall galleries in London.

She was selected as one of three artists to paint the late Dr Mo Mowlam on BBC1's star Portraits with Rolf Harris. Mo chose Aine's painting as the one she wanted to keep. Aine again teamed up with Rolf on BBC 1's Rolf on Art The Big event when 100 artists joined together to create a giant painting of Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa in Edinburgh.

Aines style is painterly and loose, she enjoys working in layers with watercolour, attempting to describe each subtle change of colour. Many of her recent work has been in mixed media using oil and acrylic, with collage and ink.

Aine has a particular interest in painting people, she paints self portraits when no model is available.

She is currently working towards a group exhibition in September, as well as painting to commission.

Aine graduated from the Crawford college of Art and Design in 1995 and has a Higher Diploma in teaching art. She has taught art for many years in Midlothian schools, and also runs Adult art classes. She now lives in Roslin near Edinburgh, and works in her garden studio there.
